How to become a mentor

If you have a heart for teenagers, then this is for you. We need mentors who will/can be available once a week or as needed to help a young person in different areas. There will be a background check. Mentoring could be in person, email, phone call or text.

Mentors will be matched with a child’s relational and extra curriculum needs. The mentoring match is relational-based, and focuses on the development and growth of relationship and social skills. There will be ongoing trainings for mentors and any support as needed:

  • To motivate on school attendance
  • To support and encourage teens to reduce run away
  • To support and raise the level of self-efficacy, create positive values and high self-esteem
  • To support good decisions to decrease socially and self-destructive behaviors
  • To develop supportive networks
  • To develop a healthy relationship with self and others
